“Tell me, what d'you remember from the attack.” Victor leaned forward and folded his arms onto the table.
Trip chewed more slowly, then put the remains of the bread back onto the plate. Suddenly his appetite had fled.
“It was as if the ground came alive.”
A chapter of Poisonroot, a fantasy novel. Trip talks with Victor; the peace is quickly shattered, however, as Trip's pursuer catches up to him.
